Referenda Legislation in Croatia: Policy Paper on Participation Opportunities in Line with European Standards
CCSDD
April 10, 2012

In addition to her responsibilities at CCSDD, Irena Peresa has been active with GONG, a Croatia-based "non-partisan citizens' organization founded in 1997 to encourage citizens to actively participate in political processes."

Earlier this year, she co-authored a policy paper that examined some of the deficiencies and flaws within Croatia's legal framework concerning referenda, both from a local and state level as well as from various social group initiatives. GONG's research is fascinating on its own merits, and it will only increase in importance as Croatia enters the EU next year.

Although a final draft of the paper is not yet available on the Croatian NGO's website, Irena's work highlights the ability of our interns to transfer their knowledge from and to other organizations. Great work on behalf of the CCSDD team!
