ConstitutionNet has just featured a paper by one of the CCSDD's researchers, Francesco Biagi, on the 2011 Moroccan Constitution. You can find their write-up here. ConstitutionNet is an initiative of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). Partially funded by the Government of Norway, this program "aims to service the knowledge needs of an expanding group of constitution makers".

Dr. Biagi has argued that despite prominent praise of the 2011 Constitution by Western politicians and media, the document has major democratic deficits and should not be held as a beacon for reform in North Africa. The paper was originally published by the Jean Monnet Chair, part of the Institute for European Studies (IES) at the University of Malta.
