Last week, from November 14-16, Dr. Justin Frosini presented a lecture on "Germany and her Mediterranean Cousins: so Distant and yet So Close" at the Annual Scholar's Conference in Rome, organized by Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German National Academic Foundation).
The conference featured a welcoming address by Dr. Frank Habermann and Patrizia Ianiro, both from Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and Florian Schaudel of McKinsey & Company, Inc. In addition, Ambassador Thomas WrieĂźnig, Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to FAO and other International Organizations opened the conference with a lecture on "The International Organizations in Rome and their commitment in the Mediterranean area." This conference allowed students to learn from a range of perspectives through workshops and lectures on social, economic, and politics issues within the Mediterranean region. Participants also had the opportunity to chat with alumni who shared their experiences related to working, researching, and living in Europe.
In particular, Dr. Frosini's lecture discussed the similarities and differences between the legal and political system of Germany and Mediterranean countries, including Italy and Spain. During the workshop, participants discussed the characteristics of Germany, Italy, and Spain's constitutional systems. The students engaged in a dialogue which focused on understanding why such countries with similar legal frameworks diverge in their practices.
